Indigenous School and Day-care at San Roque
About the institution
The place is located at San Roque neighbourhood in the south of Quito. There is a school for children and also a day-care center, administered by different directors.
The school is named CEDEIB, that is Experimental Center of Intercultural Bilingual Education and the day-care center is named Guardería Alejandro Saez. Both places have been created with the help of some indigenous associations and the government. Many indigenous people come to the capital to try to find work, and their children usually do not have an appropriate place to stay. The school and the day-care center are spaces where children can have food, recreation, education and love while their parents work. Most children speak quichua in addition to Spanish.
Description of the work
- At the CEDEIB you can help by teaching English to children, especially from inferior grades (1st, 2nd , 3rd )
- At the Guardería Alejandro Saez you can help with the recreation of children, by playing with them, organizing games, constructing didactic material, etc..
