About the institution
The Health Center Number 4 is a public service net formed by a principal center and 13 sub-centers which offer individual and community general medical services in preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitation areas.
The Center and its sub-centers are located at the south of Quito. Their services are very important for people who have scarce economical resources.
Description of the work
They need mostly volunteers that can help in the prevention area, who can help in the education and psychological areas, so people can learn how to prevent certain diseases.
If you are interested in working within a particular medical field, we can make contact with the Director of the Health Center to see any possibilities that you volunteer in areas such as pediatrics, ginecology, intern medicine, gastroenterology, neurology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation, among others.
Time: 1 month minimum.
You need to work from 08:30 to 12:30 am, but if you wish you can stay longer.
The Center and Sub-centers are open until 16:30.
What you will get from the workplace
- A first introduction meeting where you will get to know the volunteer program and define your main aims and where to work.
- Frequently follow up.
- A certificate at the end of your volunteer period.
Board and Lodging: None
Costs:
The hospital is in need of a lot of materials. In order to buy for instance: medicines, medical equipment, etc. To cover some of this needs they do charge a small amount from the volunteers: $150.
