Fundación Minadores de Sueños works with kids in a suburb at the south of Quito. The community has few economical resources. Their main objective is to promote the integral improvement of kids and teenagers of the community by implementing projects in the areas of education, nutrition, health and recreation. They wish to create viable proposals and promote activities oriented to have the kids’ rights respected. The foundation is driven by a Swiss and his Ecuadorian girlfriend. They have worked in communities like this for 8 years.

Description of the work

Working with kids between 6-12 years old
Help children with their homework
Special attention to kids that have extra problems within some materials or subjects.
Recreation activities for kids ( 30-minute pedagogic and didactic games)
Teaching English to kids
Following up some kids that have special problems
Along with the social educator, visit to the kids’ schools and families.

Keep in mind
You are going to work with kids who quickly make strong bonds. They will miss you and feel sad if you don’t show upand it is important that you with anticipation tell them when you are going to leave. Clue words in your work are respect, initiative, confidence, creativity, learning, team-work, responsibility, honesty and love. The work will contain a lot of laughter and joy but it is important that you as an adult are responsible and that you fulfill your accomplishment.

Time: Minimum 3 months – preferable
It is ok if you volunteer for min. 1 month too.

Monday to Friday
09:00 – 12:30 Visits to schools and families, handicrafts, planning, others.
12:30 – 14:00 Lunch
14:00 – 17:00 Helping kids with homework and others
17:00 – 17:30 Recreation activities
17:30 – 18:00 Light meal and hygiene

Optional: Saturdays 09:00 – 13:00
Help kids gain enough level of education in order for them to continue their studies at school.
